The alleged details of this sexual abuse case strike at the heart of college students everywhere

Although the dates of the alleged case go as far back as 2000-2001, the memories of the victims are strikingly clear in describing the alleged details of the sexual and mental abuse to Supreme Court deposition takers.

These depositions list not only the physicians but the university system as a whole as co-defendants–and these parties will be expected to answer to a list of charges as cited by prosecutors.

Several of the physicians named in this landmark case have allegedly been accused of mentally, emotionally, and physically assaulting scores of patients while serving as gynecologists for the UCLA student health system.

The victims were allegedly exposed to:

  • Civil rights violations
  • Sexual battery
  • Negligence
  • An excruciatingly painful procedure
  • Sexual contact
  • Touching of body parts for sexual gratification
  • Intentional infliction of emotional distress1

Earlier reports from a special committee advised the university system of rampant physical and mental abuse

This is not the first time that the California university system has been made aware of abuses by the physicians of university patients in the previous decade.

In fact, a 2020 special committee opened an investigation and warned UCLA and the California university system of the collection of the potential abuses, leading up to an investigation by the Title IX committee that would neither confirm or deny its existence.

In this special committee report, several current and past UCLA health center employees who formerly worked with Wiesmeier and other physicians explained to the university that he allegedly “engaged in the following conduct during exams:

  • appeared to become sexually aroused during exams;
  • Some procedures included unnecessary and repeated touching of the vagina and clitoris.”
  • ignored patients’ requests that he not perform certain sensitive exams;
  • consistently performed non-standard sensitive exams;2

We believe that these victims should get the compensation and justice they deserve by meeting the physicians and institutions that were allegedly the source of this humiliating physical and emotional abuse in a court of law.
